Prog vs Liberal
NON Liberal 2.0 Progressivism is better than RadLib (Radical Liberalism), Shitlibs, state liberalism lite (like turbolibs) etc
This is not progressivism, that is RadLib (Radical Liberalism), Shitlibs, state liberalism lite (like turbolibs) (or if it is it is 'progressivism' it is only LIBERAL 2.0 progressivism)
Neoliberal Progressivism which blurs the line of being Non Liberal 2.0 and Liberal 2.0 share some Liberal 2.0 features like they don't like to hear about things that challenge their worldviews. Nobody does. But all progressives have money
Liberal 2.0ers like neoliberals (and neoliberal progressives at least somewhat or to an extent) are the ones purely concerned with social Justice, non Liberal 2.0 progressives are rightfully concerned about labor rights
"Liberal 2.0ers" are concerned predominantly with the social impacts of economic liberalization. "Neoliberals", the kind we see these days, believe that trade liberalization and materialist economic policies will solve all the world's problems.
Progressives as a whole are, according to Encyclopedia Britannica, are
"accommodated a diverse array of reformers—insurgent Republican officeholders, disaffected Democrats, journalists, academics, social workers, and other activists—who formed new organizations and institutions with the common objective of strengthening the national government and making it more responsive to popular economic, social, and political demands. Many progressives viewed themselves as principled reformers at a critical juncture of American history."
Yeah, so urban progressives aren’t appealed to by that hogwash, this tides over the neoliberals and liberal 2.0ers as a whole who already have the economy they want and purely see the social issues as the battleground
But maybe they are. Outrage sells, and giving them something they can actually fight generates more outrage than complex questions about whether the West has an ethical responsibility to intervene in other countries' affairs
They most certainly do not have the world they want. Tariffs still exist. Trade disputes still exist. Countries like China have grown economically and become more repressive socially. And furthermore, liberalism 2.0 is entirely economics. A liberal 2.0er only cares about sexism or racism or homophobia insofar as it harms economic growth. A non Liberal 2.0 progressive, however, might take other issues.
But maybe that take is ridiculous, because I know that if I talk to any liberals 2.0ers like specific moderate Democrat voters like Blue Dogs (Blue Dogs who fall into all of these categories: center left, voted to condemn socialism and are NON 'Reactionary centrists'), New Democrat Coalition of the Democrat Party (ND coalition members who fall into all of these categories: center left and NON 'Reactionary centrists') and The New Democrats and the primary concern I hear from them will be social justice causes.
Talk to non Liberal 2.0 progressives and some neoliberal Progressives independent of targeting minorities and their primary concern is going to be the consequences of late-stage capitalism which is a good outlook to have and base.
So let's try this, let's see what the above specific Liberal 2.0 US moderate democrats focus on (including some neoliberal progressives), and then look at what the Liberal 2.0 progressive party candidates platforms are. That’ll give us a better idea of what the people think who those people represent.
Someone who identifies as a 'liberal' may or may not actually be a liberal 2.0 progressive or a non Liberal 2.0 progressive. Those are not mutually exclusive. The line of some progressive thought usually goes "I want insert progressive ideal and I believe that trade liberalization will achieve it by giving people the money and security they need to reform society".
In the US party terms progressivism would see trade liberalization as weakening the government
Recognizing the capitalist hellscape we live in isn’t Marxist, or at least not Communist. You don’t have to be a Commie to recognize that many industries that are privatized shouldn’t be and that the workers should be able to use collective bargaining
Strengthening of the government like non Liberal 2.0 progressivism does to react to economic change is the opposite of liberalism 2.0, liberal 2.0ers incorrectly assume that the private sector can react to such changes themselves.
NON Liberal 2.0 Progressives don't always want to strengthen the government. They have specific social, economic, and political end goals and often want a stronger government. Soviet progressives, for example, wanted to leave the Union and liberalize. However, many American progressives seek to install some sort of single-party rule.
I am forgetting the social and political parts of the definition. Ya know, things like pursuing social justice by forming armed labor unions to better negotiate labor terms, or seeking to centralize power on the executive branch to leverage the influence provided by brainwashing/bribing immigrants. Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson were figures to look up to for non Liberal 2.0 progressives of the Era. Do Liberal 2.0ers progressives look at them as icons of social progress?
The candidates who are declared progressives and run under progressive parties typically run on certain positions, whereas the candidates who are just considered moderates or establishment run on other concerns. Yeah, the naming can vary depending on if a liberal wants to appeal to progressives and vice versa, but these are the general trends.
Yes yes, it’s not black and white. Progressives in general don’t want government control over everything just because their position is more government control
No idea what you’re talking about single party rule, I’ve only ever seen advocation for more parties. It wouldn’t even make sense for American progressives (at least non Liberal 2.0 wants) to want a single party, that wouldn’t advantage us in such a reactionary nation
No I’m really not forgetting the social part though. I’m saying non Liberal 2.0 progressives have similar social concerns to liberal 2.0ers (including Liberal 2.0 progressives) and seek to enforce similarly, but the main difference comes rightfully when it comes to economic policy (which infers how the liberal 2.0ers are appealed to) Such economic policies which might be left of Liberal 2.0 economic policies are more working class/union focused and less woke focused than Liberal 2.0 economic policies and could lead to a more material world (and thus less woke world) unlike Liberal 2.0 economic policies
Labor action isn’t social Justice, that’s economic justice. It isn’t about getting a baker not to discriminate against you, it’s about getting the money that’s due you and to perpetuate a decent life, giving the workers a stronger role in the economy
I’m so confused about my Thomas Jefferson point. It seems like I am oscillating between the meaning of progressive every point. I’m saying that non Liberal 2.0 progressives are economically focused as well, though not idealizing people like Jefferson and Andrew Jackson in the social sense does make me think said progressives are closer to being (or are) Liberal 2.0 progressives
Actually I don’t know of either of those 2 former Presidents above being particularly socially progressive, they did not support gays or something? Didn’t Jefferson abuse his concubine? Maybe within their culture they did something “socially progressive” like eating a vegan meal, but that’s not going to be very high on modern progressive’s radar (yes even non Liberal 2.0 progressive's radar) for what should be obvious reasons, and that’s not even talking about how the historical education Americans get is far far from supportive of the left wing and will only consider very retroactively popular progressive figures in the most contextless manner possible
Liberal 2.0 Progressivism is Post liberal progressivism (like revolutionary progressiveness, transnational progressiveness, PMC progressivism)
NON Liberal 2.0 Progressivism is Liberal Progressivism and Socialist Progressivism
Progressivism that blurs the line of being NON Liberal 2.0 Progressive and Liberal 2.0 Progressive is Neoliberal Progressivism
